Is the White House going mad?

In a news conference in early September, 2008, white House Press Secretary Dana Perino stated that Osama bin Laden is no longer considered the mastermind of the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center towers one and two. After more than seven years of being told by the Bush White House that Osama bin Laden was the architect and mastermind behind the terrorist act, and that no stone would remain unturned in the search to bring him to justice, this is quite a revelation!

So after all the talk, and anger and the lives lost in pursuing bin Laden, what are we to make of this? To some, it sounds as if Bush has decided that since he has not been able to catch bin Laden, the best way to protect his legacy is to write the terrorist leader off as merely a lieutenant to Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, who is being held prisoner at Guamtanamo. Is Bush truly trying to tell us now that we've had the mastermind all this time, and we were never told that bin Laden no longer mattered?

To my recollection, backed up by a little research, I think this is rather odd. Don't you? Watch the video below and decide for yourself.

Who do YOU think masterminded the 9-11 attacks in New York?

  • Khalid Sheikh Mohammed
  • Osama bin Laden
  • Angry aliens from Outer Space
  • It was an inside job!

Sounds like Bush is working on his legacy...  I haven't heard this.  Thanks, Chef!

I can't vote because I really don't know.

I thought I posted this yesterday! Have I been deleted!

I think there’s a good possibility he’s taking a dirt nap and has been for some time.  So if you get chance to replace a dead boogey man with a live one, better still one you have in captivity, seems like a no-brainer.

I don't know what happened. I never have deleted anyone, CWB. I was in Chicago yesterday and I didn't see your comment above today when I went on line.

The Bush White House has been reasserting that bin Laden is no longer important. I guess that means he never was, eh? If he had been, wouldn't Super Man Bush had gone after him long ago? Well, maybe since Bush didn't know much about the leader of Pakistan in 2000, maybe he just got confused between Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden!

I probably messed up somehow Chef.  I know you wouldn't delete me because I wouldn't say anything that would warrant it.  Maybe it was a HubPages glitch.

bin Laden was just another bad creation of amerika.  He was our boy when the russians were in afghanistan and he was still our boy when we needed a boogey man for 911.

Since he’s probably dead we’ll never be able to triumphantly produce him or even his corpse.  So we switch the blame to another patsy we just happen to have in captivity.  This is supposed to kill two birds with one stone.  We don’t have to feel bad about not getting Osama since he didn’t really do it (no kidding?) and we maintain the boogey man and prove how great we are because we caught him!

This stuff is so juvenile it makes me want to pull out what little hair I have left!
